As we do every year at Christmas, we are supporting our customers' projects:
In India, women and girls with disabilities often face discrimination. In addition to the challenges associated with their disability, they suffer from deeply rooted social and cultural prejudices. Gender-based violence is widespread, and many women lack access to basic services such as health care, education or a fair legal system.
In many parts of the world, women and girls are unable to live in safety – and in crisis regions, they are particularly at risk. There, they are often deprived of their self-determination and their freedom. In countries such as Liberia, Iraq, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Afghanistan, women and girls are deliberately marginalised and oppressed. They are beaten, raped and enslaved. They are robbed of their freedom and their dignity.
