XML - universal data format
The eXtensible Markup Language (XML) is probably the most important and for the future most relevant development in the area of data storage since introduction of relational databases and the related Structured Query Language (SQL).
XML is the universal data format for highly integrated future e-business solutions. XML will be the standard for the exchange of data, because it is platform-independent and thus allows data exchange beyond the own company.
Predestined for internet use
XML is predestined to be used as format in the internet. Because of its independence from any media it also offers excellent possibilities for the use for company-internal data processing.
XML, a widely supported industry standard
XML was already adopted as the industry standard by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and is supported by the leading IT companies such as Microsoft, SAP, IBM, Oracle and other known IT firms.
Thus, also mbi uses XML for application development. Various projects were already carried out that exploited the advantages of XML.
